Fairphone 4, the Smartphone with User-Replaceable Modular Hardware, Now Available in the US
Modular laptops are nice, but they can get quite bulky. Fairphone 4, the smartphone with user-replaceable modular hardware, is most definitely pocket-friendly. The company announced that the device is now available in the US, priced from $599 USD, thanks to a partnership with Murena, the main contributor to the /e/OS software that it uses.
This smartphone is built to last (IP54 rating) and anyone is able to make repairs using just a standard screwdriver. It features a 6.3-inch IPS LCD, a Qualcomm 750G 5G processor, 6GB of RAM, 128GB of internal storage, dual rear cameras (48MP Wide + 48MP Ultra-Wide), a 25MP selfie camera, and a 3,905mAh battery. For $80 more, you can equip the smartphone with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.
We know based on feedback we have received that there are many people interested in Fairphone in the US. However, currently our main focus is on the European market. This collaboration with e/OS/ is a great opportunity for us to pilot selling devices in the US market with a long-standing partner and learn more about the American market,” said Eva Gouwens, Fairphone CEO.
