NASA AxEMU Spacesuit Artemis III Moon Surface Mission Astronauts
NASA officially unveils the AxEMU (Axiom Extravehicular Mobility Unit), a next-generation spacesuit that astronauts will wear during the Artemis III Moon surface mission. When they arrive at the lunar South Pole in 2025, the astronauts, including the first woman, hope to advance long-term exploration / scientific discovery and inspire the Artemis Generation.

Axiom Space’s AxEMU spacesuit boasts the range of motion and flexibility required for exploring more of the lunar landscape. It’s designed to fit a broad range of crew members, accommodating at least 90% of the US male and female population. Before heading to the Moon, Axiom Space will test the suit in a space-like environment, while NASA maintains the authority for astronaut training, mission planning, and approval of the service systems.

NASA’s partnership with Axiom is critical to landing astronauts on the Moon and continuing American leadership in space. Building on NASA’s years of research and expertise, Axiom’s next generation spacesuits will not only enable the first woman to walk on the Moon, but they will also open opportunities for more people to explore and conduct science on the Moon than ever before,” said Bill Nelson, NASA Administrator.
