Reality Is about to Get Augmented with an AR-Ready Camera on the New iPhone 8 and 8 Plus and iPhone X
The new iPhone 8, 8 Plus, and iPhone X have processors and cameras that are optimized for augmented reality. We’ve seen the mockups for months of a new iPhone with a vertical camera, meant to support augmented reality apps, games, and more. And although only the iPhone X has the vertical camera, all the new iPhone’s have AR-ready cameras. At this year’s WWDC, Apple unveiled its new ARKit that will allow developers to create augmented reality in real time. Which is great for us, because it means that we’re going to see incredible AR coming soon for iPhone, iPad, and perhaps even Apple Watch. What all can this AR-Ready camera on the iPhone do? AR-Ready Camera
What it does will depend on the app. From putting your phone to the sky and seeing the constellations to watching a baseball game and seeing the player’s stats above their head. That’s just the beginning. Gaming in augmented reality will allow you to view the game from any angle, playing in totally new ways than before.
The limit will be what developers do with it, but Apple is setting them up for success.
It’s going to be awesome! I for one am super excited for all of the possibilities this AR-ready camera allows. What do you think? Are you ready to jump on the AR bandwagon?
