Japan AIM EV Sport 01 Electric Roadster
The first-generation Tesla Roadster still has not yet met its match, but the Japan-built AIM EV Sport 01 just might change that. Weighing just 3,150-pounds, this electric roadster packs dual motors, one in each rear wheel, making a combined 483 hp and 546 lb-ft of torque, connected to an 81kWh lithium battery pack.

It features a carbon tub chassis and tubular aluminum subframes to keep the weight down, while 20-inch wheels wrapped in 235/35 ZR20 (front) and 275/30 ZR20 (rear) tires ensure the vehicle stays firmly planted to the ground. Pricing and availability have not yet been announced, but you can see it in person at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, which takes place in West Sussex, England between July 13 – 16.

After achieving certain results at Le Mans, we jointly developed a motor with a British company in anticipation of the arrival of the EV era, and it was used in London buses. We developed the chassis. Instead of focusing on acceleration performance like today’s EV sports cars, we pursued the fun of driving by controlling the torque vector and turning. The vision for the AIM EV Sport 01 was fast and enjoyable to drive,” said Yukinori Suzuki, AIM CEO.
