8BitDo Neo Geo CD Wireless Controller Brings Back Retro Look and Feel, Costs $34.99
Priced at $34.99 USD and set for release on August 15, the 8BitDo Neo Geo CD Wireless Controller brings back the retro look as well as feel of the original from 1994. The company even went as far as redesigning and manufacturing the discontinued classic click-style joystick including the feel and sound that you remember.
There are a few upgrades such as added bumpers, turbo functions, button layout swap functionality, Bluetooth (Android only), 2.4G wireless and wired connectivity. It’s compatible with the Neo Geo Mini retro console, Windows and Android platforms. In addition to the ‘Black Edition, there will be four limited edition variants priced at $39.99 each: Iori Yagami, Kyo Kusanagi, Mai Shiranui, and Terry Bogard.
Released on September 9, 1994 in Japan, the Neo Geo CD offered a somewhat more affordable option for gamers who wanted the Neo Geo arcade experience at home. Unfortunately, slow loading tames that ranged from 30 to 60 seconds doomed the console before it really took off. SNK did try releasing the SNK Neo Geo CDZ, which is an upgraded, faster-loading version, exclusive to Japan, but it was too little, too late.
