Mount Washington Observatory Extreme Weather Winds
Mount Washington Observatory, New Hampshire set the record this past weekend for coldest wind chill temperature ever seen in the United States when it dipped all the way down to -108°F (-77.8°C). The record was previously held by Alaska, where extremely cold air and monstrous winds achieved a wind chill reading of -105°F (-76°C).

For those unfamiliar with the term wind chill, it basically combines both the temperature and the effect of the wind. In other words, a ferocious wind on a very cold day compounds the freezing temperatures by blowing away heat as your body emits it, similar how we use air fans to cool ourselves on a warm day. Fortunately, the world’s most remote camera store will never get this cold in our lifetimes.

I can’t remember it being this cold, not since 2015. I wouldn’t go out if I didn’t have to. This is the coldest I ever, ever remember, and I worked the door at a bunch of clubs for 15 years,” said Gin Koo, 36, former marine.
